Overview

LeapChinese is a fully offline Chinese vocabulary learning app. No registration, no sign-in, and no account of any kind is required. All your learning data is stored exclusively on your device. We respect your privacy and comply with applicable privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA.

Information We Collect

LeapChinese does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Specifically:

• Learning data: Your study progress, mastered words, daily records, saved words, and preferences — all stored locally on your device via Apple SwiftData.
• No account required: No Apple ID, no email, no username — nothing.
• No tracking: No third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, no device fingerprinting.
• No data sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.

Photo Library Access

When you choose to save a learning card as an image, LeapChinese requests standard iOS photo library write permission. We do not access or read any existing photos — we only write new images that you explicitly choose to save.

How Your Data Is Used

• To provide personalized spaced-repetition review schedules based on your learning history.
• To generate your daily progress stats and streaks.
• All processing happens on-device. No data is ever uploaded to any server.
• You can export and restore your data at any time via the built-in backup feature.

Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

• Access: View your learning data in the Stats and Wordbook screens.
• Delete: Remove all local data from Settings → Data Management.
• Export: Download your full learning data anytime from Settings → Backup.
• No opt-out needed: Since no data is shared with third parties, there is nothing to opt out of.

Children's Privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)

LeapChinese is rated 4+ on the App Store and is safe for all ages. Because the app requires no account and collects no personal information, children can use it without parental consent under COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU). The app contains:

• No social features, chat, or messaging
• No user-generated content sharing
• No advertisements of any kind
• No web access or external links
